After doing some research on that noise that my car was making, I found out that it was because of the dual mass flywheel and that it was on a ton of 05 and 06 minis. Good news is that it's relatively harmless!

I have one of those dual mass flywheels too and I hate it.

Is it a 6-speed S? If it is I have the exact same transmission and flywheel setup in my Focus and it sounds like that even with a completely new flywheel. Nothing to be worried about unless it gets louder or harder to shift (I did some research after it freaked me out too haha).
